Rules of Play
- No more than 11 players on the field at one time.
- Games will be 5 innings with single elimination.
- Tournament play will be determined based on the number of teams that sign up.
- Play begins when the pitcher rolls the ball to home plate. The kicker must be standing behind home plate and kick the ball with their foot from that location.
- You may run multiple bases at once.
- There can only be one player on each base at a time, and runners cannot pass any runner ahead of them.
- Fielding player must stay out of baseline; otherwise the runner advancing to the base will be called safe.
- While the kicking team is trying to make its way around the bases, the fielding team’s goal is to either catch the ball outright and get the runner out by default or retrieve the ball if nobody catches it. If a fielding player attempts to catch the ball, touching it but failing to hold on, the ball is still considered in play. Upon retrieval, there are 3 options:
- Directly touch the runner with the ball while they’re running to a base. You may throw the ball, but it must hit the shoulder and below. The runner will be called safe if it hits their head unless they are sliding/ducking the ball. If a player is hit in the head, they are rewarded the base they are running to.
- Throw the ball to one of the players guarding the bases. If the player catches the ball before the runner arrives, and touches the base the runner is out.
- Return the ball to the pitcher, ending the play.
- A count of three fouls is considered an out. A foul ball is considered a kicked ball landing in foul territory (any part of the field not between the first and third base lines).
- Bunting is allowed.
- You can run through first base.
- Stealing (leading off), is allowed but you cannot lead off the base until the ball has crossed home plate.
- We will be following the infield fly rule.
- If the fielding team is unable to get a player out before they make it around all four bases, the kicking team earns a point.
- The teams switch sides when the fielding team has gotten three members of the kicking team out, or when the kicking team has scored five points for the inning.
- Once both teams have kicked in an inning, the inning ends.
- Umpires’ rulings are final.
- Teams may chose to have 1st and 3rd base coaches. Coaches may not interfere with play or physically assist the runners.
- In the instance of a tie breaker, we will have an extra inning. If the extra inning does not break the tie, it will result in a kickoff.
- The last inning of the game we will allow unlimited points.
